09 — Complete Daily Itinerary: Japan Family Trip 2026

Travel: October 1–18, 2026 Japan: October 2–17, 2026 · 15 nights Travelers: 2 adults, daughter (16), son (12) Fixed stays: Tokyo Oct 2–11 · Kyoto Oct 11–13 · Osaka Oct 13–15 · Tokyo Oct 15–17 Trip promise: anime, gaming, ramen, kawaii and hands-on fun — plus two Kyoto nights built around live traditional performance.

Canonical-plan rule: this file is the source of truth for the daily route. If another guide conflicts with it, this file wins.

The Family-Fit Filter

Every scheduled block must earn its place in at least one of these ways:

  • Play: ride, game, workshop, arcade, karaoke or interactive art.
  • Fandom: Pokémon, Nintendo, anime, manga, Ghibli or character culture.
  • Taste: ramen, street food, themed food or a hands-on food experience.
  • Wow: a visually unforgettable place that works without a long history lesson.
  • Cute: kawaii design, character worlds or a welfare-conscious cat visit.

The Great Buddha, Meiji Shrine and Senso-ji stay because they are iconic and brief. Long museum visits, luxury-shopping walks, adult nightlife alleys and repetitive observation decks do not.

Booking Gates and Backups

Experience Current action If unavailable
Nintendo Museum · Oct 15 Enter the October lottery by July 31 at 23:59 JST on the official ticket calendar. Choose a morning or early-afternoon slot. Recovery morning in Osaka, then a direct return to Tokyo.
PokéPark KANTO · Oct 5 The lottery is closed. As of Jul 24, the official overseas store has no Oct 5 purchase path. Monitor it for official inventory; the Aug 1 system update is for admissions from Nov 1 and does not promise an October reopening. Use only the official international store or a seller explicitly authorized by PokéPark; do not use Fiverr or an unofficial paid buyer. DisneySea is the first fallback; Sanrio Puroland is secondary if the family prefers kawaii characters.
teamLab Planets · Oct 4 Buy a morning timed entry from the official store. Spend the full day in Odaiba at Joypolis + Gundam Base.
Mundo Pixar · must-do Oct 4 Buy a timed 11:45/12:00 entry from the official event/ticket page. A daytime D-price slot costs about JPY 20,100 for this family plus fees. If the preferred slot is gone, choose the nearest slot that preserves the teamLab → Pixar → Odaiba route. Cut extended Gundam Base/mall browsing and the waterfront sunset first.
KAWAII MONSTER LAND · Oct 6 Buy a timed 60-minute entry from the official attraction page. Takeshita Street + purikura + Kiddy Land; no cross-city replacement.
Ghibli Museum · Oct 8 October tickets release Sept 10 at 10:00 JST through the official ticket page. Target 10:00. Kichijoji + Inokashira Park, then the same compact Nakano/Shinjuku route.
Mizuekai · Oct 11 Target the 13:00 performance; official sales method is still TBA. JPY 10,000 first floor / JPY 8,000 second floor, age 10+. Skip the recital, keep a calm Kyoto arrival and meet the Awata procession at 17:00.
DRUM TAO HIBIKI · Oct 12 Buy the 19:00 show when its two-month sales window opens. Doors 18:15; about 40 minutes; JPY 10,000 each, age 6+. Keep UZUMASA as the day’s headline and enjoy an early Kyoto dinner.
USJ + Nintendo · Oct 14 Buy a Studio Pass and an Express Pass that explicitly includes Super Nintendo World timed entry from USJ. Studio Pass + immediate app entry request; if Express is gone, use single-rider selectively.
Pokémon Café · Oct 16 Watch Pokémon Café news. As of July 23, October reservations are not yet announced. Pokémon Center Tokyo DX + Tokyo Ramen Street. Do not pay a reseller.

Interest and Energy Rules

  • One headline experience per half-day; normally no more than two ticketed attractions in one day. Oct 4 is the deliberate exception because teamLab, Pixar and Joypolis sit on one continuous waterfront route, with lower-priority browsing removed.
  • Every shopping district gets a wish list, time box and spending cap.
  • For arcades and gachapon, load a fixed cash envelope before entering.
  • After three active days, the next day starts later or ends earlier.
  • “Cut first” means skip it without guilt when anyone is tired.
  • Rain planning: Day 7 needs its own wet-weather fallback once Ghibli is fixed on Oct 8; ticketed entries do not move casually.

Day 1 — Thu, Oct 1: Depart Tel Aviv

Theme: travel only Route: TLV → Addis Ababa

  • Reach Ben Gurion according to Ethiopian Airlines’ international check-in guidance.
  • ET419: TLV 15:35 → ADD 19:50.
  • Use the 2h45 connection for the gate transfer, meal, bathrooms and stretching.
  • Board ET672 at 22:35 for Narita.

Carry-on: passports, medicines, chargers, power banks, one change of clothes each, the Tabata apartment address in Japanese and late-check-in instructions.

Day 2 — Fri, Oct 2: Narita Arrival

Theme: land, transfer, eat, sleep Route: NRT → Tabata base

  • 19:40: ET672 arrives at Narita.
  • Allow roughly 90 minutes for immigration, bags and customs.
  • Buy the next practical Skyliner to Nippori after collecting bags, then connect by JR to Tabata; keep an airport-bus/taxi fallback.
  • Message the accommodation after landing and follow the late self-check-in instructions saved offline.
  • Buy a simple konbini dinner and breakfast. No sightseeing.

Pre-trip gate — not an arrival-day task: before departure, send passport images for all four guests in Airbnb chat, obtain written confirmation that arrival around 22:00–23:00 is permitted and save the released instructions offline.

Day 3 — Sat, Oct 3: Akihabara Play + Collect

Theme: anime, retro games, rhythm games and first-day treasure hunting Route: Tabata → Akihabara · direct JR, then compact on foot

Morning · 09:30–12:30

  1. Radio Kaikan: each child chooses a hunt list—specific series, character and maximum price.
  2. Animate Akihabara for current series and character goods.
  3. Mandarake Complex after its noon opening for used figures and older Hunter × Hunter / Pokémon finds.

Afternoon · 12:30–17:30

  • Lunch: CoCo Ichibanya or a nearby ramen shop. A maid café is optional only if both children actively want the performance.
  • Pick one modern arcade and one serious game stop:
    • GiGO for crane/rhythm games.
    • HEY Taito for playable arcade games.
    • Super Potato for retro consoles and the small top-floor arcade.
  • Finish with a controlled gachapon session. With the cat café moved to Oct 8, the afternoon has extra slack — spend it on arcade play, not more shops.

Evening

  • Neon photos on Chuo-dori.
  • Dinner near Akihabara or back in Tabata; ramen is preferred over an adult-oriented alley.

Play budget: JPY 1,500–2,000 per child. Shopping rule: photograph expensive items; do not buy the first version seen. Cut first: an extra shop. Protect the arcade play.

Day 4 — Sun, Oct 4: teamLab Planets + Mundo Pixar + Odaiba

Theme: immersive art, Pixar worlds and real play—not mall wandering Route: Toyosu → Shin-Toyosu → Shijō-mae → Odaiba on the Yurikamome

Morning · 09:00–12:00

  • teamLab Planets at the earliest practical timed entry.
  • Wear clothes that roll above the knee; the experience includes water and mirrored floors.
  • Allow 2–2.5 hours and use the free lockers.

Afternoon · 12:00–17:30

  • Must-do: after teamLab, continue one stop to Shijō-mae for the timed Mundo Pixar entry around 11:45/12:00. CREVIA BASE is about three minutes from the station, the experience takes about 45–55 minutes, and Oct 4 is currently a D-price day: three age-16+ tickets plus one age-4–15 ticket total about JPY 20,100 before fees. Official exhibition · official calendar and prices
  • Treat teamLab, Pixar and a meaningful Joypolis block as the day’s three anchors. Pixar is not the cut: shorten Gundam Base/mall browsing and drop the waterfront sunset before reducing Joypolis.
  • Continue by Yurikamome to Odaiba; front or rear seats turn transport into an attraction.
  • Lunch at DiverCity.
  • Unicorn Gundam statue + Gundam Base Tokyo.
  • Tokyo Joypolis for indoor rides, Sonic-themed play and arcade experiences. Check ride restrictions; choose a passport only if the family will do enough rides.

Evening

  • Dinner near Joypolis or DiverCity, then the night Yurikamome back.

Cut first: extra malls, Madame Tussauds, Fuji TV, extended Gundam Base browsing and the waterfront sunset. Protect teamLab, Pixar and the Joypolis play block. Rain-proof: almost the entire day is indoors.

Day 5 — Mon, Oct 5: PokéPark KANTO

Theme: the son’s Pokémon dream day Route: Tabata → Shinjuku → Keio-Yomiuriland → gondola/bus

Before leaving

  • Tickets must already be secured; do not travel hoping for gate sales.
  • Download and update the official PokéPark app.
  • Pack charged power banks, water, rain layer and comfortable shoes.

Park strategy

  1. Arrive before the published Yomiuriland opening time.
  2. Use the scenic Sky Shuttle gondola if operating.
  3. Enter PokéPark at the exact ticket time; published October 2026 hours are 11:00–19:00.
  4. From 10:45 in October, use the app for limited-access requests for the Daisuki Shop, Playhouse and Sedge Gym show.
  5. Prioritize Pokémon Forest before anyone is tired; it includes steep terrain and a 110-step staircase.
  6. Add selected Yomiuriland rides only after the PokéPark priorities are complete.

Pass choice: Trainer’s Pass is the default; Ace only if the included priority/re-entry perks justify the live price. Prices vary by date. Ticket-sourcing rule: do not buy through Fiverr, a broker or an unofficial reseller. PokéPark may invalidate tickets connected to commercial acquisition/resale/transfer and refuse entry without compensation. Monitor the official overseas store for Oct 5 inventory; the Aug 1 update notice applies to admissions from Nov 1 and is not a promised reopening for October. Backup: DisneySea replaces this day if official PokéPark tickets cannot be secured. The official Oct 5 calendar currently shows 09:00–21:00 and Halloween, but Tower of Terror and Indiana Jones are scheduled closed. Official calendar

Day 6 — Tue, Oct 6: Harajuku Kawaii + Shibuya Gaming

Theme: the sister’s kawaii headline and a shared Nintendo/Pokémon finish Route: Meiji Jingu → Takeshita Street → Shibuya · no backtracking

Morning · 08:45–12:30

  • Meiji Jingu: a 35–45 minute forest-and-torii reset, not a long shrine lesson.
  • Enter Takeshita Street before the midday crowd.
  • Harajuku crepe, purikura and a fast pass through Kiddy Land.
  • KAWAII MONSTER LAND: book a late-morning 60-minute show/game slot. It opened in February 2026 and is the trip’s strongest dedicated kawaii experience.

Afternoon · 13:00–17:30

  • Walk Cat Street toward Shibuya and eat lunch on the way.
  • Shibuya Crossing + Hachiko as quick photo stops.
  • Shibuya PARCO 6F power block:
    • Nintendo TOKYO
    • Pokémon Center Shibuya
    • CAPCOM STORE TOKYO
    • JUMP SHOP for Hunter × Hunter and Demon Slayer goods

Evening

  • Choose Shibuya Sky only if a sunset slot was booked and the weather is clear.
  • Dinner: AFURI for lighter yuzu ramen or Ichiran for the booth experience. Note that Ichiran’s base bowl is no longer a sub-JPY 1,000 meal.

Cut first: Shibuya Sky. The fandom floor is the priority. Why it works: the day progresses naturally from calm → cute → games → neon.

Day 7 — Wed, Oct 7: Kamakura + Enoshima Adventure

Theme: iconic Japan without temple fatigue, then coast, caves and snacks Route: Tabata → Kamakura → Hase → Enoshima → Fujisawa/Tokyo

Morning

  • Direct JR service to Kamakura where practical.
  • Go straight to Hase.
  • Kotoku-in Great Buddha: 30–40 minutes.
  • Hasedera: prioritize the cave, views and gardens; 60 minutes.

Afternoon

  • Ride the Enoden along the coast.
  • Pause briefly at Kamakurakōkōmae for the Slam Dunk crossing view; stay behind barriers, avoid blocking traffic and keep it to a quick photo stop.
  • Lunch around Hase/Enoshima; choose shirasu only if everyone wants it.
  • Cross to Enoshima for Nakamise snacks, escalator if needed, Sea Candle views and the Iwaya caves if weather/tide operations allow.

Evening

  • Sunset by the coast, then return via Fujisawa to avoid retracing the full Enoden route.

Cut first: Tsurugaoka Hachimangu and the deepest Enoshima climb. Bad-weather swap: move this day and use Day 8’s indoor plan.

Day 8 — Thu, Oct 8: Ghibli + Compact Nakano/Shinjuku

Theme: animation magic, a focused collector hunt and one neon finale Route: Tabata → Mitaka/Kichijoji → Nakano → Shinjuku

Morning · 10:00–12:30

  • Ghibli Museum at 10:00 if secured; all entry is advance reservation.
  • Allow 2–2.5 hours for the exclusive short film, building, rooftop and shop.
  • Walk through Inokashira Park toward Kichijoji and eat an early, simple lunch.

Afternoon · 13:00–16:30

  • Kichijōji Petit Mura · 13:00–14:00: a fairy-tale micro-village five minutes north of Kichijoji Station. Visit Cat Cafe Temari no Oshiro — a two-story cat castle with about 20 cats and no time limit. Ages 10+, about JPY 1,200 + tax per person on Thursdays; reserve ahead. Official site
  • Continue by JR Chuo to Nakano.
  • Nakano Broadway scavenger hunt: cap it at 60–90 minutes, because many stores duplicate Akihabara.
  • Each child gets three targets and a spending ceiling; compare Mandarake branches before purchasing.

Evening · 17:00–20:00

  • Continue five minutes by JR to Shinjuku.
  • Watch the free Cross Shinjuku Vision 3D cat, take the Godzilla Head photo and eat dinner.
  • namco TOKYO is optional only if everyone still has energy; it is no longer a protected long play block.

Cut first: namco TOKYO, then extra Nakano shops. Protect Ghibli, the Petit Mura cat visit and an unhurried lunch. Ghibli backup: Kichijoji + Inokashira Park, then the same compact Nakano/Shinjuku route. Removed: Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho are adult-first, cramped and not worth using family energy.

Day 9 — Fri, Oct 9: Todoroki + Totoro + Curry Festival

Theme: two green resets, Ghibli-shaped sweets and a real neighborhood food festival Route: Tabata → Oimachi → Todoroki → Jiyūgaoka/Shibuya → Setagaya-Daita → Hanegi Park → Shimokitazawa → Tokyo

Morning · 08:00–10:45

  • Leave around 08:00 and travel via Oimachi to Todoroki Station.
  • Enter beneath Golf Bridge, about three minutes from the station.
  • Walk the reopened riverside path toward Todoroki Fudoson and the Japanese Garden; allow 60–90 minutes.
  • The path is narrow, uneven and unfenced in places. Do not enter during or just after heavy rain, and leave well before dark.
  • If Setsugekka is open, share tea and kuzu-mochi rather than turning it into a full meal.

Setagaya reopened the full path on March 24, 2026. Recheck for temporary works one to two weeks before the visit. Official status and safety notice

Midday · 10:45–13:30

  • Continue through Jiyūgaoka and Shibuya to Shimokitazawa/Setagaya-Daita; allow about 45 minutes including transfers and the walk.
  • Collect a reserved Shiro-Hige Totoro cream-puff box from the Daita shop after it opens at 10:30. Official shop
  • Walk to Hanegi Park for a short picnic and energy reset. Part of the park is scheduled for renovation during 2026, so use whatever lawn/rest area is open rather than chasing a specific facility. Official park page

Afternoon and evening · 13:30–19:00

  • Walk into Shimokitazawa after the neighborhood comes alive.
  • The 2026 Shimokitazawa Curry Festival runs Oct 8–25, making Oct 9 its second day. Use mini portions at participating restaurants for a three-stop family curry scorecard. Official festival
  • Between bites, browse one vintage store, one music/book shop and Mikan or Reload; each child chooses one stop.
  • If everyone still wants ramen after the curry crawl, choose one family-friendly shop from the live map. Ramen is dinner, not another scheduled mission.
  • Return from Shimokitazawa through Shinjuku.

Cut first: Hanegi Park, then vintage shopping. Protect the Curry Festival and, in dry weather, Todoroki Ravine. Heavy-rain version: skip Todoroki and Hanegi; start with the reserved Shiro-Hige pickup, then use the festival’s indoor restaurants, Mikan, Reload and cafés. Animal-café decision: the scheduled stop is the Oct 8 Petit Mura cat café. The Kyoto/Osaka exotic-animal side quests (LOUTRE otters Oct 11, Rock Star and the America-mura snake café Oct 13) are deliberate, eyes-open exceptions — the welfare research still flags such venues, so they stay optional walk-ins that are cut first.

Day 10 — Sat, Oct 10: Family Celebration at Tokyo Dome City

Theme: one easy, celebratory playground with no cross-city checklist Route: Tabata → Suidobashi / Tokyo Dome City

Slow morning

  • Sleep in and have a proper brunch.
  • Give the bar mitzvah gift privately.

Headline afternoon

  • Tokyo Dome City Attractions: buy rides individually or use a pass only after checking live operations.
  • Prioritize Thunder Dolphin for anyone who wants a major coaster and meets the rules.
  • Ride the Big-O Ferris wheel; choose a karaoke gondola if available.
  • Visit the large JUMP SHOP for one planned keepsake.
  • Optional family bowling/arcade only if the rides are weather-limited.

Evening

  • Tentative free finale: if the official Oct 10 program lists Pokémon Card Game: TOKYO LUMINOUS NIGHT, finish rides around 17:15 and take the Oedo Line from Kasuga to Tochomae. Choose the earliest practical Pokémon slot, arrive 15–20 minutes early at Citizens’ Plaza and reserve dinner in West Shinjuku afterward. The projection is outdoors and weather-dependent. Official timetable · official current works
  • The Instagram times are not the October timetable. General October screenings begin at several half-hour slots from 18:00, while the Pokémon work rotates only in selected weekend/holiday positions; recheck the exact work order during the final week.
  • If Pokémon is not listed or the family wants a slower celebration, reserve a special dinner near Tokyo Dome, Kagurazaka or the Tokyo base and keep the original one-area evening.
  • Ask ahead for a dessert message.
  • Do not add the Tokyo Yosakoi preview. Tomorrow starts with an early Kyoto transfer and two fixed-time cultural events.

Why this wins: rides, Jump fandom and karaoke remain compact; the projection is a direct Kasuga → Tochomae add-on, not a cross-city zigzag. Cut first: bowling/arcade and extra shopping if the projection is confirmed. Never use the late 21:00-era option before the early Kyoto transfer.

Day 11 — Sun, Oct 11: Kyoto Arrival + Mizuekai + Awata Night Procession

Theme: a geiko recital followed by lanterns, music and a living shrine tradition Route: Tokyo → Kyoto Station → Miyagawacho → Awata Shrine area

Early morning

  • Check out and take an early reserved Nozomi to Kyoto.
  • Forward the main suitcases to the Osaka hotel if both properties confirm delivery; carry two-night Kyoto packs.
  • The booked Fushimi apartment cannot be entered until 15:00 and no early bag drop is promised. Store the two-night bags at Kyoto Station; forward the main suitcases to Osaka if both properties approve the delivery.

Midday · 13:00

  • Attend Mizuekai at 13:00. Do not choose the 16:00 performance; it conflicts with Awata.
  • The official 2026 run is Oct 8–11. Tickets are JPY 10,000 first floor or JPY 8,000 second floor, and admission is age 10+.
  • Allow the performance to be the afternoon headline; no sightseeing checklist around it.

Reset · roughly 14:30–16:30

  • Have a late lunch, hydrate and sit down near the recital/Awata route. The apartment is not a practical rest stop before the procession.
  • Reach the Awata area before the procession rather than chasing its full route.

Side quest — only with real spare time: the LOUTRE otter café on Teramachi (about 10 minutes' walk from the recital area) runs walk-in visits 13:00–19:00 with no advance booking. Added deliberately despite the exotic-café welfare research — treat it as a skip-first extra, and leave if the animals look stressed. Official site

Evening · from 17:00

  • Watch Awata Shrine’s night procession, officially scheduled from 17:00.
  • Stay for the opening atmosphere and a manageable section of the procession, then leave around 19:30 before exhaustion and the deepest crowd.
  • Collect the stored bags at Kyoto Station and continue to the Fushimi Inari apartment for self check-in.

Cut first: any added temple or shopping stop. If Mizuekai fails: keep the early Kyoto arrival, enjoy a longer lunch/rest and retain Awata as the day’s anchor.

Day 12 — Mon, Oct 12: UZUMASA + DRUM TAO HIBIKI

Theme: samurai-film play by day and explosive taiko at night Route: Fushimi Inari base → UZUMASA Kyoto Village → apartment/rest → Kyoto Avanti

Daytime · 10:00–15:00/15:30

  • Enter UZUMASA Kyoto Village near opening and treat it as the day’s main family attraction.
  • Prioritize the Edo film-set streets, live samurai/ninja shows and two or three participatory attractions. The exact October show timetable is not yet published.
  • General admission is currently JPY 2,800 for age 13+ and JPY 1,600 for ages 3–12: JPY 10,000 for this family, before paid attractions or costumes.
  • The seasonal Yokai Festival overlaps the trip dates; confirm its day-specific program close to travel.

Reset · roughly 16:00–18:00

  • Return to the apartment, sit down and eat an early dinner near Kyoto Station.
  • Be at Kyoto Avanti before the 18:15 doors.

Evening · 19:00

  • See DRUM TAO HIBIKI, a roughly 40-minute show designed to work well even after a full daytime attraction.
  • Current official price is JPY 10,000 per person: JPY 40,000 for the family. The show admits ages 6+ and tickets open two months before the performance.

Optional Mibu Kyogen swap

If the family strongly prefers the historic masked theatre, leave UZUMASA around 13:15, sample one or two Mibu Kyogen plays from roughly 14:00–16:00, then continue to HIBIKI. The official autumn run is Oct 10–12, five plays between 13:00 and 17:30, with day-of unreserved admission. This is a compressed alternative—not part of the recommended baseline.

Cut first: Mibu Kyogen, then extra paid UZUMASA attractions. Protect the rest and HIBIKI.

Day 13 — Tue, Oct 13: Fushimi Inari + Osaka Neon

Theme: one iconic Kyoto image, then a compact Osaka food-and-anime evening Route: Fushimi Inari apartment → shrine → apartment/checkout → Kyoto/Shin-Osaka → Namba/Nipponbashi

Early morning

  • Leave the bags locked in the apartment and walk about three minutes to the shrine area. Official access guide
  • Spend 60–90 minutes around the lower vermilion torii route.
  • Turn back before the full mountain climb. This is the trip’s one iconic classical-Kyoto sight, not a hiking day.
  • At 09:30, stop at Handmade Chopstick Workshop Yūzen Fushimi, one minute from JR Inari. Eligible pairs can be engraved on the spot in roughly five minutes each; prepare the exact Roman-letter or katakana spelling before entering. The shop lists 09:30–17:30 with seasonal variation, so reconfirm Tuesday opening by phone during the final week. Official shop account
  • Do not promise the Instagram post’s JPY 1,100 starting price; no current official price list confirms it. Choose by actual product price and confirm whether each pair includes engraving.
  • Return for final packing, complete the host’s checkout steps by 11:00, then travel through Kyoto/Shin-Osaka to Namba. Retrieve the main suitcases if they were forwarded.

Afternoon

  • Den Den Town / Ota Road: use a shortened route and focus on stores not already exhausted in Tokyo.
  • Pick one Animate/Surugaya/Mandarake route and one arcade.
  • Pokémon Center Osaka DX only if the family still wants location-specific goods.

Evening

  • Dotonbori neon and Glico sign.
  • Street-food scorecard: takoyaki, okonomiyaki, kushikatsu and dessert; share portions.

Side quests — only with real spare time: two walk-in animal stops sit on this route, added deliberately despite the exotic-café welfare research; skip them without guilt. Small Animal Cafe Rock Star in Namba (hedgehogs, meerkats, chinchillas, sugar gliders and more; 11:00–22:00; about JPY 1,100 + a drink for up to two hours) and the America-mura Snake Café in Nishi-Shinsaibashi (12:00–21:00, closed Wednesdays — Oct 13 is a Tuesday; about JPY 2,000). Rock Star · Snake Café

Removed: Osaka Castle on arrival day. It added cross-city travel and museum time before the trip’s best Osaka neighborhood. Cut first: another Pokémon Center, then duplicate Den Den Town browsing. Protect the short Fushimi visit and the nearby 09:30 souvenir stop; never risk the 11:00 checkout.

Day 14 — Wed, Oct 14: Universal Studios Japan + Super Nintendo World

Theme: the biggest gaming day of the trip Route: Namba → Universal City → same Namba hotel

Before the gate

  • Studio Pass and Express Pass are separate products; bring both QR codes.
  • Register Studio Passes in the official app.
  • Arrive 60–90 minutes before the published opening; USJ may begin admission earlier than the posted time.

Priority order

  1. Follow the Express/timed-entry schedule for Super Nintendo World.
  2. Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge.
  3. Mine Cart Madness in Donkey Kong Country.
  4. Power-Up Band key challenges—buy two bands and share in teams rather than automatically buying four.
  5. Early or late lunch at Kinopio’s Café if the wait is reasonable.
  6. Choose one current anime/family bonus: the Frieren Story Walk, the separately ticketed One Piece Premier Show if Oct 14 is a performance date, or a non-Nintendo favorite such as Harry Potter, JAWS or Minions.

Halloween Horror Nights and Chainsaw Man: The Chaos 4-D are optional only after the parents review the current warnings and the 12-year-old actively wants them. Do not add the attractions that exclude guests 14 and under.

Stay through the evening if energy holds, then return to the same hotel. No Tokyo train tonight.

Cut first: repeat rides, shopping and any attraction with a wait that breaks the Express plan. Non-negotiable: the Express product must explicitly list the desired Nintendo rides and area entry; names change.

Day 15 — Thu, Oct 15: Nintendo Museum + Return to Tokyo

Theme: one last major gaming experience, then travel comfortably Route: Namba → Uji → Kyoto → Tokyo

  • Enter the Nintendo Museum October lottery by July 31 at 23:59 JST and select Oct 15 morning/early-afternoon slots.
  • Check out, forward or store luggage appropriately, and travel to Uji with passports; foreign visitors may need passport verification.
  • Explore the interactive Nintendo exhibits. Add Hanafuda Craft & Play only if a separate slot is available and the train schedule still works.
  • Continue from Kyoto on a reserved Nozomi to Tokyo, check in, eat simply and sleep.

If the lottery fails: revert immediately to the recovery version—sleep later, brunch in Namba and take a reserved train to Tokyo after lunch. Do not improvise Nintendo Museum: entry is advance-lottery/reservation only.

Day 16 — Fri, Oct 16: Pokémon Café + First Avenue + Taiko + Asakusa Finale

Theme: final fandom meal, Tokyo Station’s character-and-food hub, a personal drumming stop and classic Tokyo at dusk Route: planned Ueno/Inaricho base → Nihonbashi → Tokyo Station First Avenue → Nishi-Asakusa → Senso-ji → base

Morning and lunch

  • Accommodation dependency: the current Ueno/Inaricho apartment is still a lead, not a confirmed booking. If it is booked, walk about two minutes to Inaricho, ride the Ginza Line directly to Nihombashi in roughly 10–12 minutes and use exit B2 for the café building. If another final stay is chosen, preserve this day order and recalculate only the short feeder legs.
  • Pokémon Café Tokyo if secured; arrive 15 minutes early and allow 90 minutes.
  • Pokémon Center Tokyo DX is in the same building.
  • Protect 45–60 minutes at Tokyo Station First Avenue, outside the JR gates on the Yaesu side. Start on B1 at Tokyo Character Street and choose two or three preselected shops; add Okashi Land only if time remains.
  • If the café is unavailable, eat at Tokyo Ramen Street inside First Avenue and still visit the Center.

Afternoon

  • Timing rule: prefer a 10:30–11:00 café booking, then walk to First Avenue and continue to Taiko-kan. If the café booking is later, go to Taiko-kan at its 11:00 opening first, then return to Nihombashi/First Avenue before Senso-ji.
  • Reach Taiko-kan around 14:00 and before its official 15:00 last admission. The museum is open 11:00–16:00 on Friday, and marked instruments may be played.
  • Visit Miyamoto Unosuke Shoten in the same building after the museum. Let the staff help choose one suitable in-stock bachi pair; name engraving takes about a week and is not a same-day option.
  • Continue to Senso-ji in late afternoon when day crowds begin to thin.
  • Quick Nakamise snack and Kaminarimon family photo.
  • Optional goldfish finale — Sumida Aquarium: inside Skytree Town, 15 minutes' walk from Senso-ji, with a large Edo-style goldfish gallery. Friday hours run to 20:00; from Feb 2026 tickets are JPY 2,700 adult / 2,000 high school / 1,400 elementary-junior high — about JPY 8,800 for the family. Only if packing and energy comfortably allow. Official prices

Evening

  • Return early for packing and a favorite-neighborhood dinner. Solamachi is only a bonus if the museum, temple and packing are all comfortably complete.
  • Farewell dinner: Kura Sushi for the plate game, yakiniku for a splurge, or one final excellent ramen.

Cut first: the optional Sumida Aquarium stop, then Solamachi browsing, extra Nakamise time and First Avenue browsing beyond one hour. Protect the focused First Avenue visit, Taiko-kan, the bachi and Senso-ji. Pack tonight.

Day 17 — Sat, Oct 17: Local Goodbye + Narita

Theme: relaxed farewell, no risky cross-city detour Route: planned Ueno/Inaricho area → NRT

  • Check out and store bags only at a facility confirmed by the final property; make luggage storage a booking requirement if the current lead changes.
  • Keep 11:00–15:00 local: Ameyoko snacks, Ueno Park or any Asakusa piece missed yesterday.
  • Collect luggage by 15:15.
  • Reserve a Skyliner around 15:45–16:00 when sales open, then recheck the exact timetable and terminal.
  • Target the correct Narita terminal by roughly 16:45–17:15 for the 20:40 flight.
  • ET673: NRT 20:40 → ADD 05:50 on Oct 18.
  • ET418: ADD 10:25 → TLV 14:35.

Do not add: Skytree tickets, a distant café or “one last” timed attraction.
